As chiropractors, we view health a little differently. The brain and nervous system is the main driver of our overall body function. This delicate system is housed by our spine. When there is abnormal stress present on our spine and nervous system such as with an injury or chronic overuse, we may experience symptoms such as pain, tension, or to put it simply, suboptimal function. Whether you are initially drawn into our office for relief of a symptom or looking for overall enhanced function in your body, when stress is taken off of our spine and nervous system, our body is able to function more efficiently and be more adaptable to the daily stresses that we will inevitably encounter. When our body is able to communicate efficiently, you will better and more fully be able to heal and work towards optimal function being restored. As your body goes through the healing process, you may experience symptom reduction such as pain relief or overall improvement in the function of your body such as improved sleep, energy levels, digestion, or athletic performance, to name a few.
We perform a thorough history and initial examination prior to providing chiropractic care to determine how we may best serve you, including discussing your unique individual goals. We primarily utilize manual, hands-on chiropractic adjustments. For those who prefer an instrument, we use an activator tool as well.
In addition to the chiropractic adjustment, we like to help you find ways to reduce your stress levels and improve your function outside of our office as well through advice on lifestyle modifications such as rest, nutrition, and movement/exercise.
Did you know that all 32 NFL teams currently utilize a chiropractor? There are numerous ways athletes may benefit from chiropractic care. Utilizing their advanced knowledge of the body and biomechanics, chiropractors are able to more conservatively rehabilitate many common sports injuries. Issues requiring further medical attention and intervention will be identified and referred out accordingly. Chiropractic care may also be utilized for prevention of injuries and increased athletic performance. (See above-one goal we have is to create greater resiliency by making our bodies more adaptable to the stressors we encounter.) Dr. Zak is our sports guru in the office, having received further post graduate certifications in working with athletes. He is also very knowledgable on treating extremity complaints.
Pregnancy is a time of many changes going on in mom as her body is constantly growing and adapting to meet her developing baby's needs. Chiropractic adjustments are delivered with the intent to help her body function better to meet these needs, as well as help keep her more comfortable. Dr. Emily is trained and certified in the Webster technique which is a specific chiropractic analysis and diversified adjustment with a goal of reducing the effects of restriction and dysfunction in the sacrum and pelvis. In doing so, neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is improved. Chiropractic is great for moms after giving birth as well, a time that they are experiencing significant change physically in transitioning from pregnancy and delivery to breast feeding and caring for a new life.

Kids and babies can get adjusted, too! We love to see kids at Eldora Family Chiropractic. Little ones are at a time of rapid growth and development-as well as exploration and plenty of tumbles. Although they may come in for treatment of aches and pains, when function is improved in their bodies through chiropractic care many other positive benefits may be seen as well. Modifed, lighter force techniques are used on children, proportional to their size and needs. For example, the pressure used when adjusting an infant is comparable to the pressure used to feel for ripeness of a tomato. If you are unsure of whether your little one may benefit from chiropractic care, schedule a free consultation so you can discuss the potential benefits with the doctor.

Dr. Zak is certified in providing acupuncture. It is one form of treatment that falls underneath the Chinese Medicine umbrella. It includes the insertion of needles into specific areas of the body to help regulate the flow of qi (body’s natural energy) throughout the body. At times there can be either an excess or a stagnation of qi in certain areas that causes the body to be more susceptible to problems. Those problems may be sickness, musculoskeletal issues, or internal disorders. By restoring the normal flow of qi in the body, your body is better able to heal itself and return to its normal state of balance.
Cupping therapy is used to complement chiropractic care and acupuncture and may help with reducing pain, muscle tension, and inflammation, while facilitating healing by improving circulation and blood flow.
Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization
This is a manual therapy technique used to complement and enhance results. The doctor uses an instrument to help break up muscle and fascial adhesions that form with chronic overuse or trauma. It can be a very effective technique to help get over chronic conditions or help patients get back to their normal activities quicker.
Kinesiology tape
Kinesiology tape is a fairly new technology that has many different uses. It has shown to help with lymphatic drainage during acute injury, allow for proper muscle activation, and provide stability during activity.
Other modalities
The clinic also has various forms of electric stimulation, ultrasound, and heating elements. These will be used in conjunction with care at the doctor's discretion.
