Chiropractic is a natural form of healthcare which seeks out and aims to correct the cause of the issue, rather than addressing just the symptoms themselves. It is known as being a successful way to address common issues like lower back pain and headaches. Though it has proven to be effective at improving these conditions, this is not the only positive outcome that may result upon undergoing chiropractic care. Many other benefits may be realized through improving the body's ability to properly function. When the body is able to function at its best, ultimately the negative side effects seen are more likely to decrease.
In order to effect these changes on the body, chiropractors utilize adjustments to areas needing restoration of proper joint motion. They determine where to adjust after carefully performing a detailed health history and thorough examination. Various techniques are utilized throughout the profession. At Eldora Family Chiropractic, we use a more hands-on approach to addressing chiropractic issues, known as the Diversified Technique. We also have an activator instrument available to be used on those who prefer a less hands-on approach, or if determined to be clinically necessary.
As your health is multifaceted, your chiropractor will take into account the other stressors in your life as well, and address what they are able to. This may include exercise, dietary modifications, or sleep.
Did you know that all 32 NFL teams currently utilize a chiropractor? There are several reasons why athletes benefit from chiropractic care. Utilizing their knowledge of the body and its mechanics, chiropractors are able to more conservatively rehabilitate many common sports injuries. Issues requiring further medical attention and intervention will be identified and referred out accordingly. Chiropractic care may also be utilized for prevention of injuries and increased athletic performance.
Not only is it safe to see a chiropractor while you are pregnant, but there are many potential benefits to being adjusted while you are expecting. This is a time of many changes going on in mom as her body is constantly growing and adapting to meet her growing baby's needs. Chiropractic adjustments are delivered with the intent to help her body function better to meet these needs, as well as help keep her more comfortable. Dr. Emily is trained and certified in the Webster technique which is a specific chiropractic analysis and diversified adjustment with a goal of reducing the effects of restriction and dysfunction in the sacrum and pelvis. In doing so, neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is improved. Chiropractic is great for moms after giving birth as well, a time that they are experiencing significant change physically in transitioning from pregnancy and delivery to breast feeding and caring for a new life.
Kids and babies can get adjusted, too! We love to see kids at Eldora Family Chiropractic. Little ones are at a time of rapid growth and development-as well as exploration and plenty of tumbles. Although they may come in for treatment of aches and pains, when function is improved in their bodies through chiropractic care many other positive benefits may be seen as well. Modifed, lighter force techniques are used on children, proportional to their size and needs. For example, the pressure used when adjusting an infant is comparable to the pressure used to feel for ripeness of a tomato. If you are unsure of whether your little one may benefit from chiropractic care, schedule a free consultation so you can discuss the potential benefits with the doctor.

Acupuncture is one form of treatment that falls underneath the Chinese Medicine umbrella. It includes the insertion of needles into specific areas of the body to help regulate the flow of qi (body’s natural energy) throughout the body. At times there can be either an excess or a stagnation of qi in certain areas that causes the body to be more susceptible to problems. Those problems may be sickness, musculoskeletal issues, or internal disorders. By restoring the normal flow of qi in the body, your body is better able to heal itself and return to its normal state of balance.
