Dr. Zak grew up in Pocahontas, Iowa. He received his undergrad degree in Kinesiology and Health from Iowa State University, and his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University in the Twin Cities.
Growing up involved in athletics, Dr. Zak originally sought out chiropractic care to help him through his high school sports injuries, finding his chiropractor was the most helpful in getting him back out onto the field. Since, he has appreciated the many benefits chiropractic care can offer. His passion lies in working with athletes and he continues to work on post graduate studies in this area. Dr. Zak is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) and is also RockTape certified. He has applied that knowledge in working with local athletic teams including the Quakerdale Prep basketball team and South Hardin HS football team.
Dr. Zak is also certified in practicing acupuncture. He chose to study acupuncture because of the natural aspect of the treatment and thought that it paired well with chiropractic. He wanted to continue to grow his health knowledge base and was enthralled with the different way of looking at health that Chinese medicine uses. The more he has learned the more it has shaped the way he looks at every patient that comes through his door. He enjoys looking holistically at everyone’s problems and the Chinese medicine paradigm has continued to help that grow.
Dr. Zak is an avid Cyclone and Cubs fan and enjoys spending time outside of the office with his family. In the community, he has volunteered his time to be on the board for the Hardin County Community Endowment Foundation.
